E-invoicing became mandatory in France for B2B transactions on 01/09/2026. This article explains how to activate E-invoicing for your French company entity in Teamleader Focus so you can start sending and receiving e-invoices.
French e-invoicing isn't available in a SMART package because French regulations require support for receiving e-invoices (expenses).
French e-invoicing
French e-invoicing legislation introduces obligations in two phases:
1 September 2026:
- All businesses are required to be able to receive electronic invoices.
- Medium-sized (ETI) and large (GE) enterprises are required to send invoices in electronic format and use E-reporting.
1 September 2027:
- SMEs (PME) and micro-enterprises are required to send e-invoices and use E-reporting.
Teamleader Focus supports e-invoicing for French company entities, covering both sending and receiving e-invoices. In France, the feature is called E-invoicing rather than Peppol, as the Peppol brand is less commonly used in France. The underlying network and technology is the same though.
For French entities, the registration works a bit differently than for example Belgium and Luxembourg. France doesn't have a "sending-only" mode like Belgium and Luxembourg do. This is because French regulations require that senders can always receive response messages (such as acceptance or refusal notices) for invoices they send.
That said, using multiple e-invoicing tools is still possible. If you're already registered in another tool using your SIREN number, Teamleader Focus will still register you both for sending and receiving under a slightly different SIREN identifier (your SIREN with a suffix, e.g. SIREN_XXX). See it as a separate inbox that gets created. This way you can send from Teamleader Focus while still receiving documents in your other tool, or even receive in both. All combinations are possible, they just work a bit differently behind the scenes. Read on to learn more about SIREN numbers and their variations during the registration process.
Enable E-invoicing
! Only admin users can enable E-invoicing in Teamleader Focus.
- Go to Settings > Company information
- Click Enable E-invoicing next to your French company entity
- Fill in your company details: Company name, SIRET number, VAT number, IBAN, and company address.
- Fill in the details of your legal representative. This is required by French regulations: first name, last name, email address, role, and date of birth. Then fill in your payment information: early payment terms and late payment terms.
- Check the box to confirm that Dokapi (Matricule: 0152) will act as your Accredited Platform for the transmission of E-invoices and the registration of your electronic address in the Annuaire.
- Click Save and continue.
After saving, Teamleader Focus now checks whether your identifiers are already registered on the e-invoicing network. French entities use three e-invoicing identifiers: 0225 + SIREN (national), 0009 + SIRET (international), and 0002 + SIREN (international). Here's what happens in each scenario:
-
0225 identifier already in use by another tool: Teamleader Focus will register a special variant (0225:SIREN_XXX) for your entity, so you can still send and receive response messages via both tools. You can freely use Teamleader Focus for sending and receiving, while your other tool keeps its own 0225 registration.
You can check out this website to see if and where you’re already registered. Optionally, you can deregister in the other tool to be able to use the identifier in Teamleader Focus. - 0009 or 0002 identifier already taken by another tool: These identifiers are used to receive e-invoices internationally. In this case, you won't be able to receive international e-invoices via Teamleader Focus.
-
Not yet registered anywhere: Teamleader Focus will register all three identifiers for you (0225, 0009, 0002), enabling full sending and receiving in Teamleader Focus.
Your registration has now been submitted and will be active within 24 hours. Once active, you can start sending and receiving e-invoices via Teamleader Focus.
Sending French e-invoices
When creating an invoice to send via E-invoicing for your French company entity, you'll be asked to indicate whether the invoice is for goods, services, or both. Fill out the field ‘Invoice content’. Note: this is also a mandatory field on subscriptions.
Then, you can save the invoice and choose to send it via the e-invoicing network.

Receiving French e-invoices
Once registered, your suppliers can find you on the network using your SIREN number and send e-invoices directly to your Teamleader Focus account. You can find them in the module ‘Expenses’. Read all about receiving e-invoices here.
! When you mark a received invoice as paid in Teamleader Focus, a payment confirmation message is automatically sent back to the supplier. This is required by French e-invoicing regulations. You don't need to take any action, this happens automatically when you set the expense to paid.
Note
As it’s mandatory to fill out the field ‘Invoice content’ on an invoice, it’s not possible to create invoices in bulk from your project overview. Booking invoices in bulk is still possible though when the ‘invoice content’ field is filled out in your invoice drafts. Sending e-invoices in bulk is also possible.
